Carolines Story
Caroline is a qualified psychotherapist and founder and CEO of Suicide or Survive. Caroline has experience of personally attempting suicide and the limited services provided. She spent 8 years as a user of the psychiatric services, leaving her with an in-depth knowledge of the medical model, how and why a person is diagnosed and the treatment they may receive in Ireland. She received a Social Entrepreneurs Ireland Level 1 Award in 2006, and a Level 2 Award in 2007. Caroline was part of a very powerful documentary “I See a Darkness” http://www.rte.ie/tv/iseeadarkness/statements.html. Today, she lives with her husband John and has two young children Conor and Amy.

Since 2008 Caroline has also been a member of Amnesty International’s Experts by Experience Advisory Group which advises AI on its mental health campaign. She is also one of the participants in our social marketing campaign appearing on billboards and in newspapers across the country
