26/08/2018 @ 8:00 am - 24/11/2018 @ 5:00 pm

We have some incredible news to share with you.

An amazing lady called Tara McCormack is taking on the truly breathtaking challenge of running 6 Marathons in 6 Months #6in6 ….. We are totally blown away by this phenomenal quest.  The strength and endurance Tara will need to take on this challenge is phenomenal.  We are inspired by Tara’s kindness and generosity in sharing her story of her own struggles with mental health that stopped her from taking part in her passion for running.  Tara’s empowering story of how she came out of a dark place and returned to the things that she loved, such as running will, we believe, give hope to others who are struggling in life and will strike a cord with many people.  Tara’s sharing highlights the need for each and every one of us to reach out and talk about our mental health in order to breakdown stigma, get conversations started, and support and encourage people to seek help when they need it. It also demonstrates that while we will all go through difficult patches in our life’s journey, there is help available.

Tara, thank you so much for taking on this challenge for SOS, the awareness you are bringing to suicide prevention and mental health issues is far reaching and the money you will raise from your extraordinary challenge of running 6 marathons in 6 months will allow us continue to deliver our life-changing, innovative programmes throughout the country.  Tara you are a true inspiration, massive thank you!

Tara will run the following marathons starting on 26th August:

  • Armagh city marathon 26th August
  • Dundalk MCI Marathon 9th September
  • Monaghan Phoenix Marathon 29th & 30th September (back to back)
  • Dublin city marathon 28th October
  • Marathon Club Ireland (Location tbc) 24th November
