Mental Health & Suicide Awareness 50K Charity Cycle Waterford – 1st April
The annual Easter Sunday Waterford cycle for mental health and suicide prevention is now open for registration. The fundraiser, organized by Cllr Liam Brazil, is now in its fourth year and this year it takes place on Easter Sunday, April 1st. All proceeds go directly to providing mental health workshops in County Waterford which are delivered by Suicide or Survive.
To date the phenomenal amount of €25,080 has been raised by this event and the organisers are confident that with community support that this figure can be added to significantly. All funds raised go directly into delivering innovative and accessible mental health programmes for the people of Waterford. These include a fully funded 1 day Wellness Workshops, the 2.5 day Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) programme and the 2.5 day Supporters Programme for those who are supporting others with mental health challenges.
The cycle is always a great day out and welcomes people of different levels of ability and fitness. There is always a huge feeling of community spirit on the day. Not only are we raising funds for mental health but we’re also creating good mental health by engaging in the cycle and getting out in the fresh air and stretching our legs in the spring air. The atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming and we’d encourage anyone who might be interested to sign up and give it a go.
The 50km cycle starts at Leamybrien and goes through Kilmacthomas, Kilmeaden, Kill, Bunmahon and Durrow before ending up back at the start.
