Training Links Programme
The Training Links Programme Grant was awarded to 11 organisations Sli Eile, Sophia Housing, Respond Housing, MyMind, PIPS Newry & Mourne, Shine, Gateway Mental Helath Project, Anam Cara, National Learning Network and East Wicklow Youth Service. Suicide or Survive is the lead organisation and coordinating the programme.
The purpose of the programme is to;
- To develop network structures and procedures including the establishment of a steering committee and the development of operating procedures for the network
- To form agreement on monitoring and evaluation procedures and how these will be implemented.
- To carry out a training needs analysis and skills audit within the member organisations in relation to mental health awareness and the Recovery model, facilitation, advocacy and training skills and assess the strategic importance of the skills identified to member organisations.
- To develop a detailed training plan that will ensure that staff/ volunteers/ service users who require it will receive appropriate training and to develop a panel of trainers who are trained in delivering the training proposed.
- Adapt/ develop training materials and methodologies for delivery to staff/ volunteers/ service users of member organisations.
- To train front line staff/ volunteers/ service users to certification at FETAC Level 5.
- To select and train a panel of trainers to deliver the above modules in the future.
- To run a number of training programmes in mental health difficulties and treatment approaches and Recovery, and in Facilitation and Advocacy skills staffed by trainers trained as part of this project.
- To monitor and evaluate both the working of the network and the actions carried out.
- To disseminate project activities and promote collaboration and co-operative activity to share learning.

Training Links is an innovative support service developed by The Wheel to enhance the skills and employability of people working in the community and voluntary sector in Ireland. Training Links offers funding opportunities to groups of organisations that choose to come together and work collaboratively to address their shared training needs as a Training Network.
